Capital One
Identity System
About One Brand
One Brand was Capital One's strategic pivot to unify its fragmented enterprise assets into one cohesive, digital-first design system. Capital One's products had grown out of separate teams working independently for years, each with its own visual patterns; One Brand set out to change that, standardizing UI components, typography, imagery, and color across every customer-facing touchpoint the company owned.
Iconography
The system prioritized flexible, modular UI components built for both mobile and web — banking, credit management, and rewards all drawing from the same underlying library instead of being rebuilt separately for each product. I built the style guides and documentation that defined how iconography and design work got created across Capital One's products and services — design tokens covering color, typography, spacing, and motion — so any designer on any team could produce work that matched the system, not just reference it.
Interaction Patterns & User Experience
Consistency wasn't only visual — it had to hold up in how a customer actually moved through the product. I worked toward a visual, story-driven approach: mapping out user journeys as illustrated flows before building the actual screens, so the team could see where a customer might get stuck or frustrated before a single interaction was built. Standardizing type and introducing microinteractions across digital platforms came out of that same process — redesigning navigation paths, cutting redundant flows, and simplifying layouts that had previously required guesswork, so a customer checking a balance or applying for a card moved through the experience without friction at any step.
